IT contractors should research thoroughly ahead of meeting potential clients for the first time, it has been suggested.
City Life Coaching director Jenny Ungless wrote on the Times Money Central blog that it is impossible for people to put in too much preparation for an interview and said research is often the key to good performance.
The expert recommended umbrella company members research the firm, their competitors, the state of the entire industry and its future challenges, adding that the internet is a good place to start this.
In addition, candidates should show their potential employer that they have the skills needed to do the job, are willing to take the contract and can fit into their organisation.
“Prepare a couple of questions which show that you have researched the company and have a good understanding of its key issues,” Ms Ungless added.
Recently, mind consultant Dr Ali Binazir wrote in the Huffington Post that IT contractors should act confidently and speak aspirationally when meeting with a potential employer.
