A meeting to be held tomorrow (June 8th) will look at how flexible labour can help the UK’s public sector, which may interest umbrella company members.
The Recruitment and Employment Confederation’s (REC’s) public sector summit will bring together a selection of the UK’s recruiters, human resources professionals and employer organisation representatives to debate how the government can retain the necessary talent while reducing spending.
REC chief executive Kevin Green commented: “We maintain that public sector employers benefit greatly from having flexible staffing.”
He also claimed that the £6.2 billion in cuts to public spending which were announced by chancellor George Osborne two weeks ago should act as a prompt for the government to find sustainable ways of lowering spending and suggested flexible workers could be one way of achieving this.
Last month, the REC said that the government should avoid cutting essential IT projects as part of its widespread cost-reduction strategy.
