IT contractors have been advised to be careful with the claims they make about their ability to deliver certain goals.
Richard Nicholas, technology lawyer at Browne Jacobson, wrote for Contractor UK that those who do make false claims about what they can do when bidding for a contract could come into legal trouble.
Companies recruiting workers will want to ensure employees are not likely to exaggerate what they can do, he explained on the website.
“This may be a reason why some recruiters are becoming more thorough in their vetting of CVs at recruitment stage,” Mr Nicholas commented.
He added that those who embellish on their CV could be just as likely to do so when pitching for contracts and in their claims about abilities to meet deadlines.
Powerchex recently advised IT freelancers not to lie on their CVs, after four such workers lost their contracts because of false claims on their documents.
