The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) has launched its Internships That Work guide.
It will look to aid businesses in providing effective internships across the UK, which could help umbrella company members gain extra skills.
Among other aspects of the guide, it looks at how best to recruit interns, as well as efficient ways to supervise and support them.
“For all those employers, both large and small, who may have heard about internships but simply do not know where to start, our guide gives them the support that they need,” commented Tom Richmond, skills adviser at the CIPD.
The news comes after the government announced the Graduate Guarantee, which will come into force January 1st 2010.
This will offer internships to graduates who have been out of work for six months.
Such schemes may provide a big help for youngsters seeking to join an umbrella company, even after figures from the Office for National Statistics showed that employment and unemployment rates remained broadly unchanged in the period from August to October 2009.
